CVOR drivers are required to conduct adequate vehicle inspections prior to driving their commercial motor vehicles. All “major” and “minor” defects must be properly recorded on the vehicle inspection report at the time the defect comes to the driver’s attention. This training program specifically utilizes the company’s vehicle inspection report and covers the legislated responsibilities under the HTA placed on both the operator and the driver. A practical vehicle inspection demonstration (air brakes) follows.

  • Air brakes (brake chambers /pushrod travel / brake lines etc)

  • Suspension system (Leaf springs/ U bolts / Main or helper leaf/ Shackles / air bags etc)
  • Tires / Wheels – signs of wheel separation potential
  • Trouble shoot the air brake system and check all fail safe valves.
