All employees have an important role when it comes to workplace Occupational Health and Safety. This training program is designed to educate employees on their roles and responsibilities under the OHSA and how important their participation is in the Company’s overall health and safety program. Good health is not just about the absence of disease or infirmity. It encompasses complete physical, mental and social well-being. Leadership and safety culture discussions help participants realize that working together in a “positively charged” environment is the only way to achieve everyone’s goal -- Being safe and staying healthy.

- Origin and Purpose of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Review key parts/sections and a list of applicable regulations under the act.
- Reasons for injuries / illnesses / fatalities in Ontario.
- WSIB released statistics.
- The concept of the “Internal Responsibility System”.
- The three fundamental rights of employees: right to know / right to participate and the right to refuse unsafe work.
- Employer, supervisor and worker duties.
- Competent employee - examine and discuss.
- Employee participation in Health and Safety program
- Policies and procedures. Communicated / understood and enforced. Use of personal protective equipment as an example.
- Leadership session: Characteristics / Teamwork
- Safety Culture: What is it? How does it develop?
- Group discussion of specific hazards associated with your workplace
- Knowledge verification
